Andrew C. Earl, born March 9, 1935, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Nov. 30, 2012, in Prescott, Ariz.
Andy arrived in Prescott on Oct. 31, 1955, during the Halloween Parade with his brother, Bob. Upon arrival, they stayed at a boarding house now known as Hampton Funeral Home. Andy was a dishwasher by trade. He worked at Walt's Coffee Shop when it was located on Gurley and Montezuma and then moved out on East Gurley. After Walt's closed, Andy worked at the Dinner Bell Café for many years. His last place of employment was the Sunset Hills Restaurant. If anyone worked in any of these kitchens from 1956 to 1990, you probably ran into Andy. In 1990, Andy retired due to a back injury.
Andy never married. He is survived by his niece and guardian, Mary Jane (Mike) Hopf of Prescott; sister, Alice (Murray) Marks of Iowa; nieces, Lynn, Dea, Jennifer, Joyce; nephews, Murray (Chip) and Robert Jr. (Bob). There are nine great nieces, six great nephews, four great-great nieces, four great-great nephews, and two great-great-great nephews. Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Delia Earl; brother, Robert P. Earl Sr. (Bob) and sister-in-law, Helen Earl.
Andy was a resident of the Arizona Pioneers' Home for the past eight years. We would like to say thank you to all the staff that took care of Andy during these years. A thank you to Dr. D. Duncan and Dr. W. Thrift - you all made his life so much better.
He will be missed by those that are left behind and will be taken care of by those that he joins in Heaven.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Arizona Pioneers' Home, 300 S. McCormick St., Prescott, AZ 86303.
Hampton Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements. Please visit www.hamptonfuneralhome.com to sign Andy's guestbook.
