Jose Villa Ybarra, age 85, of Superior AZ, entered into rest at Banner Gardens Hospice of Mesa, AZ on Monday, June 11, 2012, following a courageous battle of multiple illnesses.
He was born on January 26, 1927 in Turkeyshoot Canyon in Miami, AZ to the late Tranquilino and Maria Ybarra. He was the second oldest of the children. He attended school in Mexico, Miami (AZ) and Superior (AZ). Jose served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was stationed in Germany. He attained the rank of Technical Sergeant.
On July 20, 1947, he was united in marriage to Isabel “Chavela” Palacios in Superior, Az. In 1957 Jose completed the build of their home in Superior where they raised their family and have lived ever since.
Jose began working for Magma Copper Mines when he returned from the service where he worked until 1983. In the years that followed he worked for Pinal County until he retired in 1992. Jose was a loyal member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. He was a very spiritual man and he served his parish in a variety of ways for many years.
Jose is survived by his wife, Chavela; his son, Robert “Bobby” Ybarra; his daughter, Mary Christine Ybarra; his son and his wife, Stephen Andrew Ybarra and Debbie; his son, David “Divie” Ybarra and Bridget; fourteen grandchildren, Billy, Nathan, Jessica, RJ, Fonzie, Zach, Vanessa, Noah, Angel, Micah, Lucas, J.J., Gabby and Chano; eleven great-grandchildren, Lindsey, McKenna, Nathan Jr., Zachary, Beya, Olivia, Blaine, Ryland, Xander, Baron and Noel; one brother Leopolo “Polo” Ybarra and one sister, Gloria Ogden. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Dickie; one sister, Lilly; three infant siblings; and an infant daughter, Isabel.
