GRAY, Patricia Irene (Pat)


Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona, Thursday, December 06, 2012 Patricia Irene Gray was greeted by the applause of Heaven on November 28, 2012. Patricia was born on October 15, 1938 in Gary Indiana to her parents Granville and Blanche. Her family moved to Mesa, Arizona where she graduated from Mesa High School in 1956. Pat soon became a Registered Nurse and her picture as a nursing student is still hung in the hall at Good Samaritan Hospital. Pat excelled at nursing with her intelligence, eye for detail and gentle manner she became the Director of Nurses for the Henry Mayo Hospital in Valencia, California at the young age of 33. Pat had a successful career in nursing administration throughout the years. She started the education department at Flagstaff Medical Center with 3 boxes and a tiny closet of an office in the Malapais Building. She ended her career back on the floor with Alzheimer patients which gave her much joy. In her retirement, Pat co-wrote 2 books with her dear friend, Derrel Sims and was working on her own book about her 40 years of nursing. Most of all, Pat was an exceptional Mother and Grandmother. She provided unconditional love and support to her 3 children and 7 grandchildren. Pat had an amazing way of providing guidance with an understanding that she trusted her family to make wise choices. Pat had a deep faith in Christ that helped her create a close and loving family. Pat will be deeply missed by her children, Christine (daughter) and Horacio, Michelle (daughter) and Greg and Michael (son). Her grandchildren, Sarah, Elias, Alysa, Julian, Aubree, Gracie and Kate. Her brother Everett and Imogene (whom she considered a sister) and her extended family. Pat will be missed by her numerous and loving friends. All of whom hope their mansion in Heaven will be next to Pat's. Services to be held at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, 3600 North 4th Street in Flagstaff on Saturday, December 8th at 2 pm.
