TACKIS, Albert F. (Pete)

Kingman Daily Miner, Kingman, AZ - Published on December 2, 2012 - Albert F. "Pete" Tackis passed away Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at Kingman Regional Medical Center. Pete was born Dec. 28, 1924, in Steubenville, Ohio, to Joe and Alberta Tackis. He was preceded in death by both parents and his sister, Wanda Mavis Tackis. Pete lived an active 87 years. He has a son, Daren Lynn and a daughter, Dona Mae with his first wife, Betty Jean. He had three grandchildren, Austin, Mason and Carrie, and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Teresa and Mark Brodkin, three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He loved them all dearly. Pete served in the USMC during World War II in the South Pacific. After his military service he became an apprentice plumber and in time became a licensed plumber. He started his own business, "Pete's Plumbing," in West Covina, Calif. He built many houses through the years in Big Bear, Calif., and eventually settled in Arizona over 35 years ago, building a home for his daughter and son-in-law, Dona and Sam Carpenter. Pete had many close and dear friends whom he loved. He was a member of the Golden Valley Baptist Church. He also did volunteer work for the Mohave County Attorney's office, which he loved. Pete always had a listening ear for any, and could make anyone smile and laugh. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his family. A memorial for Pete will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Veterans Memorial in Locomotive Park, 310 Beale at First Street in downtown Kingman.
