Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona, Friday, December 14, 2012 LeRoy C. Laine, Jr. of Williams, AZ, April 13, 1946 (San Diego, CA) - November 20, 2012 (Williams, AZ). Retired full-time US Army Reservist, served as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. Bronze Star and 3 Purple Hearts recipient for his extraordinary service in Vietnam. Graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a Bachelor of Professional Aeronautics. Spent most of his military career in Germany with assignments in the US Retired Federal Government employee, stationed in Germany. Life-time member of the VFW Post 9845 in Heidelberg, Germany. Survived by partner and companion Mary Kasel, Williams, AZ, son Derek and his wife Sylke of Missoula, MT, brother Michael and his wife Caroline of Grindelwald, Switzerland, and father Dusty and his wife Jane of Mesa, AZ. Preceded in death by his mother Mary Lou (Baker) Laine. A “Celebration of LeRoy’s Life” is planned for April 13, 2013, at a location yet to be determined, and will include honoring his military service. The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made in LeRoy’s name to non-profit organizations which benefit injured or disabled veterans including military working dogs.
