Black’s Show Low Mortuary, Show Low, Arizona Richard Louis Potyka (June 13, 1939 - December 11, 2012) Richard Louis Potyka, age 73, passed away on December 11th, 2012 at his home in Taylor, Arizona. He was born June 13th, 1939 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Carnegie-Mellon University with a degree in electrical engineering. He relocated to Phoenix in 1965 and began a long, successful career with Motorola; first in the aerospace division and later in semiconductors. His first love was radio. He became a ham radio operator while still in high school, and continued to be active in all aspects of amateur radio until his death. He was also involved with the creation of KRDE, The Ride 94.1 FM. After retirement, he moved to Taylor and became part of the community. He is survived by many family members and friends and will be missed dearly. Services will be private.
