The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 12/21/2012 Oscar Grant Jr., 79, resident of Vernon died Dec. 15, 2012. He was born Jan. 17, 1933, in Crescent, Okla., the son of Oscar Grant Sr. and Barbara Franklin Grant. Oscar served his country in the U.S. Army, worked as an architectural engineer, and retired from Walmart. He was an amazing father who single-handedly raised four children, even in his crippling condition; was an incredible artist who brought life to still images; and was an inviting, enthusiastic man who brought joy to all he met. He is dearly missed by all. Oscar is survived by sons: Eric Grant, Ian Grant both of Calif., Gibby Grant of Texas, Yves Grant, and Dio Grant both of Arizona; daughters: Pixie Grant, Lisa Grant both of Calif., Misha Smith and Pasha Westbrook both of Arizona; brother Sonny Boy Grant; sisters: Claudette Walker and Dorothy; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Delvin “Big Daddy” Grant and Barbara Jean Williams. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at Saint Rita’s Catholic Church in Show Low.
