B.J. Scott, 80, of Buckeye died Dec. 18, 2012, at the veterans affairs hospital in Phoenix.
Mr. Scott was born Feb. 29, 1932, in Weches, Texas, to Ben and Eunice Scott. He moved to Arizona in 1949.
He worked as a farm laborer and served in the Army as a private first class from Oct. 23, 1953, to Oct. 26, 1956.
He lived in Bakersfield, Calif., from 1972 to 2010, and returned to Buckeye in 2010.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Carla Marie; and one son, Gary Scott.
He is survived by four daughters, Nyrene of Phoenix, Deidra of Phoenix, Andrea of Glendale and Tiffany Turner of Bakersfield, Calif.; two sisters, Izola Brown and Anola Hubbert of Goodyear; three brothers, Ben of Dallas, Eugene of Scottsdale and Morse of Phoenix; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, with a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Sword of the Spirit Ministry, 13380 W. Van Buren St. in Goodyear.
The Rev. James Brown Jr. will officiate.
