DAFOE, Gladys L

(Maiden Name: Perry)

Times Herald (Port Huron MI) Tuesday, December 25, 2012 Gladys L Dafoe, 95, of Yale, MI, died December 16, 2012, in Glendale, AZ. She was born October 11, 1917, in Fremont Township, daughter of the late William and Gertrude (McKay) Perry. She married Harvey P Dafoe on April 11, 1939, in the home of her parents. A member of Trinity Missionary Church in Yale, MI, she at various times served as treasurer, leader of the Youth Missionary Society, Sunday School teacher, and leader in the Women's Missionary organization locally and at district and denominational levels. She took pride in her baking, especially cookies, always on the lookout for new recipes. Decorating the house for Christmas was a special pleasure--as was, all year round, studying the wall map of the world where she kept track of missionaries, correspondents and news. She loved her dishes--her china, the fostoria, and her everyday crab apple set--because she delighted in setting a beautiful table whether for family, guests or a party. She thoroughly enjoyed reading and re-reading, thinking of her books as old friends. She is survived by a daughter, Ruth Dafoe, of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and two sons, Ralph and wife Connie of Austin, TX and Gerald and wife Linda of Morristown, AZ. Also surviving are three granddaughters (Amanda Dafoe of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Dianna Anderson of Mesa, AZ and Rebecca Gardner of Chandler, AZ), three grandsons (Alexandre and Paulo, Brasilia, Brazil, and Bundaberg South, Australia, repectively, and Daniel of Grand Rapids, MI), and 11 great-grandchildren whom she greatly enjoyed. She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years and by sisters Thelma Cole, Edith Pocock and Ora Palmateer as well as brother Herbert Perry. Interment was in Wickenburg, AZ.
