CLOSE, Helen Lorraine

Idaho Statesman (Boise ID) Thursday, December 27, 2012 Helen L Close, 78, passed away from a heart attack at home in Boise, Id. Helen was born in Wickenburg, AZ on July 11, 1935. Daughter of Elmer and Ida Belle Riggins. Helen grew up in Henderson, NV. She attended Basic High School where she met the love of her life James D Close. They married January 22, 1954. They traveled the world together Japan, Hong Kong, Israel, Mexico, Hawaii, Alaska Cruise. East coast to the West coast from the bottom of the Grand Canyon to Branson, MO. Helen is survived by her husband James D Close and their three children, Catherine Close and Jeff Carson, Kent and Robin Close and Robert and Sally Close. She leaves 9 grandchildren Jamie, Sky, Kent, Kris, Nick, Polly, Bridget, Audra and Sarah and 14 great-grandchildren. She loved her children very much and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved being called "Granny Goose". Also surviving is her sister Betty Beason, Henderson NV and sister-in-law Lois Riggins, Claremont OK. Helen lived the majority of her life in Las Vegas NV until they moved to Pocatello, ID in 1974 where they lived until 2006 when they moved to Boise, ID. Helen was a devoted wife, mother and daughter. Her family and friends will miss her love and fun filled personality. She loved her backyard patio with her river, vegetable garden, roses, ducks, birds and her favorite squirrel she hand fed. She loved all of her bridge playing friends she made over the years at Brookview Retirement, Meridian Senior Center and Pocatello. Play a hand in her name. May she rest in peace. Funeral services will be held at the Vineyard Fellowship, 4950 N Bradley Street, Boise, ID on Saturday December 29, 2012 at 1:00pm. We are all grateful for the care and love shown by our family and friends.
