FAZIO,
Adolph
Adolph Fazio, 91, went to his heavenly home on April 3, 2004 to be with the Lord and his beloved wife Edith and all who preceded him.
Adolph is survived by his children Gene Fazio, Randy Fazio, Barbara Fazio Etkin and his grandchildren Brian Fazio, Phillip Fazio, Angelina Fazio and daughter-in-law Kathy Fazio and granddaughter-in-law Amy Fazio, his brothers Steve Fazio, Gene Firpo, Louis Firpo, his sisters Eleanor McCloud, Jeannette Firpo.
He will be remembered as an independent and active person who drove his own car, fixed his own meals and did things his own way until his death.
He was born at home at 613 E. Van Buren St. in Phoenix, AZ, six months after statehood. He was the eldest of six children born to Angie Firpo. He attended Monroe Elementary School and Phoenix Union High School. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. During this time he married his beloved wife Edith Reichenberger.
Upon returning from active duty in 1945, Adolph was one of the managing partners in the family business, H. Firpo Poultry, which produced the best tasting chickens that were "hours fresh and not days old."
He was an active member in the community who served on the boards of Memorial Hospital and the Arizona State Hospital. He will always be known for his great generosity and as a person who made a difference in so many lives. He has left his mark, and it will be passed on from generation to generation. Here is a man who lived the true spirit of Christmas. He could never say "No" to anyone and felt it was his privilege to do for others.
In his last years, he so enjoyed being with his brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, friends and "grandpets." To his grandchildren, he was the best Italian grandfather ever! He always put aside his time and energy to tell stories of his old days and to give grandfatherly advice. He always had a story!
Goodbye "Dad," "Papa," "Brother," "Uncle Adolph," and "Good Friend." You were a man who lived the true spirit of having one's life belong to the community and making a difference for others. Your example will inspire us always. Visitation with a Rosary was Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at Whitney & Murphy Arcadia Chapel, 4800 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix. The Funeral Mass, presided by Fr. Warren Rouse, O.F.M., was April 7, 2004 at St. Mary's Basilica, 231 N. 3rd St., Phoenix. Burial services will be at St. Francis Cemetery.
