WARRINGTON, JR., Fred R.


Fred R. Warrington Jr., born July 31, 1932 passed away April 1, 2004 at his home in Phoenix after a long bout with cancer. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, to Josephine Dykeman and Fred R. Warrington Sr. Fred leaves behind his wife Margarita, Brothers David Warrington of Great Falls, MT and Bernard Bubnash of Yakima, WA, Sister, Patricia Hanenburg of Great Falls, MT, Sons, Robert Warrington of Glendale, AZ and Jeff Warrington of San Francisco, CA, Daughter Barbara Stewart of Malvern, AR, and was "Tata" to Alexandra, Ariana, Christopher, Thomas, Andrew and Samantha. He was in the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War. Fred was actively involved in numerous charitable, civic and educational organizations. He was also a respected leader in the Arizona Grocery Industry. Fred owned three businesses during his career: Fred's Meat Market, Diamond D and Shopping Kart Food Market which he operated for 29 years. He served on the Board of Directors of the Retail Grocers Association of Arizona (today known as the Arizona Food Marketing Alliance). In 1976 Fred was named the President of the Board of the Retail Grocers Association; in 1987 he was named Retailer of the Year and in 1989 he was inducted into the Arizona Grocer's Hall of Fame. He was a source of inspiration and love to his family and proved that hard work, honesty and desire are the greatest attributes one can posses. Visitation and rosary was held Monday, April 6, 2004, at A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuary 710 W. Bethany Home Rd. A memorial mass was held on Tuesday, April 7 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church 4715 N. Central Ave. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society attn: Development Dept P.O.
