SHELDON, Dorotha Louise

Dorotha Louise Niswender Sheldon, daughter of Orbin Oliff and Blanche Niswender, was born in Lucas County, Iowa on December 10, 1923. She departed this life on April 20, 2004 in Chandler, Arizona. Dorotha grew up on a farm in Lucas County, attending Norwood Consolidated Schools, graduating from Chariton Junior College in 1943. After graduation she taught school in Tenant, Iowa. She married her beloved, Leonard Sheldon, on June 30, 1944. They enjoyed life together for 59 years, until Len was called home on June 18, 2003. Her health and will to live started to decline upon his passing. Dorotha and Len were true partners. In business, work and play they were a great team. Leaving to mourn her passing are her daughter, Dixie Lundquist of Chandler, Arizona, her son, L.G. Sheldon of Altoona, Iowa, Dixie's husband Bruce and their children, Adam and Caleb Lundquist, her brother Darrell Niswender of Chariton, Iowa and many friends and business associates. Services are being planned for May 8, 2004 at the Altoona Funeral Home. Mariposa Gardens Funeral Care is entrusted with local arrangements.
