Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Sunday, December 30, 2012 12:00 am | Updated: 7:41 pm, Sat Dec 29, 2012 - Melvin Gosse, 84, pased away on Sunday, December 23, 2012 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. He was born on September 04, 1928 in Chicago, Ill. to Elmer and Lillian (Oetting) Gosse. Melvin served as a Photographer in the US Navy for 20 years and traveled around the world during his Navy Service. His favorite duty station was Washington, DC area where he met Shirley (his wife of 51 years). They were married on October 12, 1961. After retiring from the military he acquired his AS Degree in Visual Arts - Photography. Melvin loved being a photographer and could perform all types of Photography: weddings, portraits, industrial, commercial, medical, public relations, etc. Melvin and Shirley moved to Lake Havasu City 21 years ago, coming from Buena Park, CA. Prior to his retirement, Mel was employed by: TRW, Torrance, CA; LA Flood Control District; LA Harbor UCLA Medical Center; Chevron Oil Field Research Company, La Habra, CA. He was a member of the VFW Post 9401 and the FRA, Mohave County. Melvin had a great sense of humor and loved his wife and family with all his heart. “Happy Trails” to you Melvin, until we meet again - we love you. Melvin is survived by his wife, Shirley Jean Gosse (Swaney); son, David Melvin Gosse; Daughter-in-law: Michelle Gosse, Corinth, MS; daughter, Cheryl Ann Dameron; son-in-law: Damian Dameron; LHC, AZ.; grandchildren, David Manzi; Kellie Mann/Glen Mann; Sara Jean Hendrix/Levi Hendrix; James Robert Dameron, Thomas Henry Dameron, Stephanie Jean Dameron; great Grandchildren, Hannah, Kaitlyn, Rachael Manzi; Mark and Anna Mann; Caydence and Isaac Hendrix; two sisters, Shirley Vogt, IL. and Marjorie Alessandro, GA.; numerous Nieces and Nephews. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Lillian and Elmer Gosse, brothers, Leslie Gosse and Charles Gosse and a sister, Emma (Sis) Soucek. Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA in 2013 with Full Military Honors presented.
