Charles Ford Lovelace, Jr., 76, of W. Winding Trail in Surprise passed away peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 18 at the Hospice of Arizona facility in Sun City West.
He was the second of three children born to Charles Ford Lovelace Sr. and Birdene “Bobby” (Thomas) Lovelace.
He was born and raised in the Mitchell Valley area of Western, Neb., where his family farmed, and he graduated from Mitchell High School in 1954. He went on to study at Chadron State College in Chadron, Neb., and also played basketball while there.
On Sept. 4, 1957, he married Sheila Schliening of Scottsbluff, Neb. They lived in and around Scotts Bluff County, Neb., before moving to Arizona in 2002 to be closer to their children.
Mr. Lovelace worked in the farming and ranching industry his entire life.
Mr. Lovelace was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sheila Lovelace of Surprise; son Michael (Kim) of Prescott Valley; daughter Holly Heinrich (Rob) of Wickenburg; son Tom of Surprise; grandson Eric Lovelace of Stillwater, Okla.; Sadie Lovelace of Prescott Valley; Helen Marie Heinrich of Wickenburg; brother O.R. “Jerry” Lovelace of Granite Bay, Calif., and Scottsbluff, Neb.; and sister Judy Berg of Fairfield, Calif.
A memorial service was held in Surprise on Sunday, Dec. 23.
