Mary Lou (Banfield) Ames, Beloved Mother, Mary Lou (Banfield) Ames, age 78 of Massillon, passed away Friday Morning at Massillon Community Hospital following an extended illness.
Mary Lou was born on July 1, 1925 in Wheeling West Virginia to the late Harry and Dagmar (Bruhn) Shorts. She was a 1943 Triadelphia High School in Wheeling WV. Mary Lou raised her family in Scottsdale AZ and returned to Massillon in the late 1970's. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Canton and Faith Lutheran Church in Massillon.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by: Her husband; Harold C. Ames in Feb. 12, 2000. She is survived by: Daughter and Son-in-law: Patricia and Kenneth Swanson of Phoenix AZ; Son and Daughter-in-law: Robert W. and Tracy Banfield of Flagstaff, AZ; Grandson: Shawn and Stacey Banfield of Austin, TX; Sister: Kitty Maxwell of Spring Lake, Michigan; Four Nephews; and Brother-in-law; Ralph Wood of Massillon.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home with her Pastor Kevin Slyh officiating. Entombment will take place at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. No calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 902 Westpoint Parkway, Cleveland, OH, 44145.
