Helen G. Ayers, 78, passed away April 1, 2004 at home in Cave Creek.
Born June 28, 1926 in Berthold, N.D., to Joseph and Mari Laumb, she and two sisters and a brother relocated to Nampa, Idaho, after the death of her mother.
Helen and Lawrence S. Ayers married September 1, 1945, and made their home in the Nampa area for 10 years, then relocated to Eugene, Ore., and have lived in the Phoenix area for more than 40 years. A remarkable homemaker, wife and mother, she traveled extensively throughout the western states with her husband in his work as a construction superintendent.
They have two children, Delbert Ayers, Phoenix, and Vicky Ayers, Eugene, Ore. A charter member of Christ The Lord Lutheran Church, Cave Creek, she is remembered by family and friends for her creativity as a consummate seamstress and for fine needlework. She gave most of her creations to friends and acquaintances.
Survivors include husband Lawrence, son Delbert, wife Cindy, grandson Mike and wife Wendy Anaya, and four great-grandchildren, granddaughter Tracy, and grandson Travis Ayers and Sylvana Demby, all of Phoenix; daughter Vicky Ayers and Tom Weierhauser; sister Alice George, Phoenix; brother Gus Laumb and wife Norma, Nampa, Idaho, and brother Marlin Laumb and wife Joanne, Berthold, N.D. She was preceded in death by sisters Marion Scott and Shirley Geisler.
Services were Wednesday April 7th, Christ The Lord Lutheran Church. Memorials may be made to the Desert Foothills Food Bank, in care of Christ The Lord Lutheran Church, 9205 E. Cave Creek Rd., Carefree, AZ , 85377
