Jerry Corrin Ulrey, 77, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away Thursday December 27, 2012 in Scottsdale.
Jerry, a long-time resident of Flagstaff, AZ where he spent most of his youth and adult life, was an educator in the Flagstaff Unified School District for 37 years. Upon his retirement from teaching in 1998, Jerry and his wife Clarene moved to the Phoenix area, where he continued working for the Arizona Republic as part of their “Newspaper In Education” program until 2005.
Jerry was a consummate educator leading thousands of students in their quest to learn, mature, advance and fulfill their academic potential. Jerry was a devoted husband and father, with his family being central to all that he did. He was also an avid outdoorsman, sports enthusiast, and an accomplished woodworker.
Jerry is survived by his wife Clarene, daughter and son-in-law Kim and Gary (Dunnington), son and daughter-in-law Jim and Anny, son and daughter-in-law Alan and Molly, uncle Warren Myers, and grandchildren, Taylor, Jeremy, Kelsey, Spencer, Jaling, Zachary, and Willie.
We will miss his smiling face, wonderful laugh, and constant devotion to all that knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Jerry’s life on Friday January 4, 2013, at 1:00 PM, at La Casa De Cristo Lutheran Church, 6300 E. Bell Rd., Scottsdale, AZ.
A viewing will be held on Friday January 4, 2013 at Hansen Desert Hills Chapel, 6500 E. Bell Rd., Scottsdale, AZ from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM.
