CHAVEZ, Genevieve (Neva)

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 01/04/2013 Genevieve “Neva” Chavez, 82, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, in Phoenix. She was born Oct. 29, 1930, in St. Johns, the daughter of Grover Cleveland Milligan and Lasarita Romero Milligan. Genevieve was a homemaker. She raised five children; four daughters and one son: Elvera Cruz and Liz Wheeler from St. Johns, Yolanda Martinez and JoAnn Padilla from Phoenix and Sam E. Chavez from Eagar. She has 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters: Mary Lucero, Irene Redmon and Virginia Padilla and brothers: Max, Grover and Boney Milligan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Chavez, parents and sisters: Emma Reyes and Margaret Romero. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at St. Johns the Baptist Church with visitation one hour prior. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, also at the church.
