Mom was born in Muleshoe,Texas and raised as a girl in Lordsburg, NM, Safford, Az and later in San Diego, CA, where she met my Dad and at the age of 16 married him in the living room of my dad’s parents home. They lived in San Diego until 1949 when they moved to Tucson, AZ. They lived in Tucson until 1960 when they moved to Phoenix, AZ. In 1967 Jack went to work for the State of AZ Highway Department and he and mom moved to Flagstaff, AZ. Mom later went to work for the Highway Department. In 1981 both Willa and Jack retired from the State and they moved to Camp Verde, AZ. They enjoyed those retiring years and did a great deal of RV traveling. In 1995, in order to be closer to some family members they moved to Tucson, AZ where they lived at Quail Ridge Estates. After Jack’s death in 2002 Willa lived on at Quail Ridge until a few years ago when she moved in with Jerri and Dick, who had a beautiful addition built onto their home, just for her. Willa enjoyed her years living at Quail Ridge. She cherished the many friends she made over those years. She has been blessed with exceptional strength and health for 92 years. She enjoyed traveling with her two special friends, Lila and Peggy. They went on cruises together and just loved being together. There were lovingly dubbed: “The Three Amigos”. When she turned 80 she took a hot air balloon ride. She enjoyed cheering the Wild Cat basketball team with Jerri and Dick. She was watching the U of A basketball game when she suffered the first stroke. She loved to watch them play. Her life was always one of adventure. She loved the out of doors. When she was 80 yrs. Old on her birthday she took a hot air balloon ride with her daughter Jerri and grand daughter Shellie. Her faith was a journey that began as a child at the knee of her mother and came to full fruition when Jack and her moved to Flagstaff and met a pastor who became their friend, Bob Warren. It was during those years that her faith became very personal and growing. She died with the wonderful assurance that nothing could separate her from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus. Willa desired that in lieu of flowers that her family and friends would give to a memorial fund she wanted established. The memorial fund is Global Training Network, of which her son Bill is involved in. This is a ministry to train national village church leaders, especially pastors, in how to study and declare biblical truths to their people and how to pastor congregations effectively. If you desire to contribute to this memorial fund you can do it in two ways: You can go to the GTN web site globaltrainingnetwork.com and click on DONATE and select Bill and Cindi Wright on the staff page. The other way is to simply send a check to Willa’s daughter, Jerri Claypool at Vistoso Funeral Home and they will forward it to Jerri. 2285 E.
