AnnaBelle Bridges Major, age 98 1/2 years died peacefully Friday, January 4th, 2013 in her home at The Hearthstone in Beaverton, Oregon.
A former resident of Phoenix from 1955 to 2000 she relocated to The Peaks in Flagstaff, until July of 2012 and then for the past 6 months to Oregon.
AnnaBelle is survived by her four children: John Grant (and wife Sheri) MAJOR of Virginia Beach, Va., Susan Elizabeth MAJOR (and husband Mike) Golightly of Flagstaff, Laura Katherine MAJOR (and husband Tim) Goldfarb of Gainesville, Fl. and Portland, Ore, and Barry Kent (and wife Joan) SWEET of Estes Park, Co. Grandmother to 10 and Great-Grandmother to 17.
Mrs. MAJOR was born in San Francisco, Ca. on May 20, 1914. She was employed by the Signal Oil Company in California and New York before her marriage to Jack Meadow MAJOR in 1940. They resided in Paducah, Ky. until his death in 1954.
She remarried in 1956 to Robert SWEET and was again widowed in 1960.
"Grammy-Belle" will be missed by her large family and her many friends in Paducah, Phoenix, The Peaks Retirement Community in Flagstaff and The Hearthstone in Beaverton, Oregon. Her great smile and outgoing personality were a blessing to all who knew her. Among her favorite sayings, "Chocolate is my middle name," "Life is an adventure," "Family is wonderful."
A memorial service will be held Friday, 10 AM Jan 11, 2013 at Episcopal Epiphany Church on Beaver and Elm, in Flagstaff, AZ 86001.
Her ashes will be interned in the Columbarium at Epiphany Episcopal Church in Flagstaff, AZ.
