SLADE,
Clinton Lamar
The White Mountain Independent,
Show Low, Arizona ~ 01/11/2013
Clinton Lamar Slade died peacefully into the arms of his Lord Jesus Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013.
A beloved husband of 61 years to Mary L. Pugh Slade and loving daddy to three children: Cheryl (Gary) Enders of Phoenix; Tanna (David) Johnson of McLeansboro, Ill., Debra (Loren) Bradley of Glasgow, Scotland; Granddad to 11 grandchildren and four step-grandchildren, great-granddad to 15 great-grandchildren.
Blessed son of Elwin ‘Skin’ Slade and Mildred Hamblin Slade; dear brother of Alan and Belva; all preceded him into eternal life.
Clint worked for the Arizona State Highway Department for 25 years and as a rancher/farmer for 38 years. He was an active member of Jesus First Church in Eagar after giving his life to the Lord Dec. 1999 and being baptized Jan. 2004.
“For it is by grace you have been saved through faith; and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. Not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
Clint was born in Round Valley and never saw a location he loved more. Therefore, he did not spend a lot of time away. He and Mary cut and bailed hay all over Round Valley for many years while running their cattle ranches both in Arizona and New Mexico and raising produce on ‘the Sharp’ just north of town. Clint loved the feel of a roaring fire and hauled many a truckload of firewood for he and Mary, family members and others in need. He loved to fish and hunt together with Mary as well as run a roping arena and have Dutch oven cookouts for friends and family.
‘Dad, we love and miss you already but will be joining you for our time in eternity together. Loving memories will always keep you near to us. Thank you for providing for us your love and giving us these memories.’ “Who wants to go to coffee?”
A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Burnham Mortuary of Eagar. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 12, at Jesus First Baptist Church.
Interment will follow the service at the Springerville Cemetery.
