Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Thursday, January 3, 2013 - >> Charles Evan Schreyer, Jr. << >> June 9, 1923 — Dec. 29, 2012 << Chuck Schreyer was born in Port Chester, N.Y., to Charles and Betty Schreyer, and grew up in the town of Mamaroneck, N.Y. He interrupted his education at North Carolina State University to serve with distinction in the U.S. Army 100th Division as Infantry Unit Commander in World War II in Europe. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star and the Oak Leaf Cluster medals for bravery. Upon returning home after the war and completing his BS degree in Forestry, he met and on Feb. 18, 1950, married Ann Esther Kimball. They moved to Scarsdale, N.Y., and Chuck joined his father in the plumbing business. In 1969, Chuck moved his family and plumbing business to Lake Havasu City. He was an active community member, joining the men’s gold club, the volunteer fire department, the Golden K and volunteered at the Food Bank. Chuck is survived and dearly missed by daughters, Sally Matteson, of Calabasas, Calif., Susan Schreyer, her husband, Jeff Lowery, and grandchildren Arianne and Ford, of Monroe, Wash.; his brother, Robert Schreyer, of Chimacum, Wash.; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. His wife, Ann, preceded him from this life Nov. 1, 2012. Funeral services will be Saturday, at 10 a.m. at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home in Lake Havasu City.
