She was born on August 9, 1928 in Fargo ND, to Harold and Aagiot (Velline) Austin. She worked as a manager at US West Telephone Co. Ferne will be missed by her loving family and friends here in Cottonwood. Ferne was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Holmes, her sisters, Geri Beck and Susan Laitsch and by her brothers, Harold “Bob” Austin and Bob Sheetz. She is survived by her brother Tim Sheetz and her niece and nephew, Jeff Beck and Beth Austin. Private family services have been held.
