The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona December 2012 Brown, Mildred Darlene Darlene Brown of Mesa, Arizona passed away on December 15, 2012 at the age of 88. She was born November 4, 1924 near Lucas, Kansas. She is survived by her husband of 68 years: Sid C. Brown; daughter: Carnan Kay Billings of Tooele, Utah; son: Mark C. Brown of Mesa, Arizona; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and brother: Dale R. Dorman of Rexburg, Idaho. Darlene spent her early years on the family farm outside Lucas, Kansas until the family moved to Nyssa, Oregon when she was 15 where she met Sid and graduated from Nyssa High School in May of 1941. Following High School she enrolled in Post-Graduate Courses in Secretarial Science and Bookkeeping. She worked for First National Bank of Oregon in Nyssa, Oregon prior to the war and married Sid on June 1, 1944 while he was home on leave from the Army Air Force. After the war she worked at First National Bank in Moscow, Idaho while Sid obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Idaho. In 1949 she became a full time mother and homemaker during Sid's career with Westinghouse Electric Company starting in Portland, Oregon, then Spokane, Washington and ultimately Bellevue, Washington. In 1971 with the children off to college she went back to work as a Receptionist/Medical Assistant at a medical practice located near Bellevue. She and Sid retired in 1987 and moved to Gold Canyon, Arizona in October of 1993, then to Mesa, Arizona in May of 2009. Darlene loved music and was an accomplished vocalist. She was very involved in church activities and loved to give service to others. She was a loving, warm and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM December 20, 2012 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel, located at 1430 N. Recker Rd. in Mesa, Arizona 85215.
