Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Sunday, January 13, 2013 - Roy Milton Dopp Jr. passed away Dec. 22, 2012, at the Polidori House in Lake Havasu City, at the age of 84. Roy was born July 24, 1928, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Roy Dopp Sr. and Mildred (Sandvig) Dopp. Roy was married to Greta Mortensen in 1950. In their first two years of marriage, Roy served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. Roy and Greta attended Grand View University in Des Moines. They had four children: Susan, R. Jeffrey, Christopher and Karma. For several years, Roy worked for New York Life, then for the Mensch Corp., and then they managed Steward Manor, an apartment complex in Laurel, Md. He also spent his later years selling real estate in Lake Havasu City. Roy married Ione Haley in 1969. Ione had six children from a previous marriage: Michael, Anne, Jim, Steve, Brian and Mary. Roy and Ione moved to Lake Havasu in 1985, joining Roy’s parents and Roy’s brother, Ron, as Havasu residents. Roy is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jimmy Dopp. He is survived by Greta and Ione; all of his four children; six step-children and his brother, Ron, who still lives in Lake Havasu City. Roy made everyone feel like his friend and endeared people to him with his sense of humor. He had a keen mind and a great heart.
