Frederick "Rick" G. Day, 68, of Dewey, Ariz., passed away Jan. 3, 2013, at his home from cancer. Rick was born on Sept. 16, 1944, in Winchester, Mass. to Virginia and Joshua T. Day Jr.
Rick grew up in Massachusetts and joined the Navy after college. He became an auditor with the U.S. Government Accountability Office, from which he later retired. He and Dede retired to Dewey, Ariz., from Denver, Colo., to enjoy their days playing golf. Rick was a beloved father, brother, uncle and partner. His love of life, determination and laughter will be greatly missed.
He is predeceased by his wife Dede.
He is survived by his older brother, Joshua T. "Skip" Day III and his wife Arlene; oldest son Jeffrey and his wife Natasha and grandson Sean; daughter Marcie Grimes and her husband Troy and grandchildren Connor and Grace; and youngest son Timothy and his wife Lori and grandchildren Deven, Collin and unborn grandson Gage; nieces Joanna Drummond and Jill Browell; and nephews Mark and Michael Day. He is also survived by his niece and nephews by marriage, Sheryl Price, Steven Rigli and Keith Rigli; and Rick's partner of three years, Sue Griffin.
A celebration of life will be at from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at the Quailwood Golf Course at 12200 E. State Route 69, Dewey.
