Robert (Bob) William Gonsalves, 86, of Snowflake died peacefully Dec. 18, 2012. Bob was born March 10, 1926 in Red Bluff, Calif.
He was raised around Red Bluff and graduated from Red Bluff High School in 1945. He served two years in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He married Mary Anna Storrs in 1947 and they lived in Gerber, Calif. until 1953 when they moved to Flagstaff. In 1954 they moved to Snowflake to start a business, Western Moulding Co. and that is where they raised their family. Bob and Mary retired to Tempe and then to Sun Lakes.
Bob was on the town council in Snowflake for many years. He was on the board of directors for Fort Apache Timber Co. (FATCO). He had a pilot’s license and loved to fly. He was always willing to help anyone in need. He was a caring and loving person to all and certainly will be missed.
Bob Gonsalves is survived by his four sons: Richard, Don (Debbie), Jim (Tracy) and John W. Gonsalves. He is also survived by his brother John A. Gonsalves and wife Saralu; two sisters-in-law Alice (Gene) Kinne, and Edith Chittenden; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Our Lady of the Snow Catholic Church in Snowflake. A graveside blessing will follow at the R.V. “Mike” Ramsay Memorial Cemetery in Snowflake.
