Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Monday, January 14, 2013 - John Charles Sleppy, 79, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 in Lake Havasu City. He was born Sept. 30, 1933 in Piqua, Ohio. John and his wife of 45 years, Sharon, moved to Lake Havasu City 10 years ago, coming from Orange, Calif. where he lived for 40 years. He served his country proudly in the Army special forces for 4 years, before being honorably discharged. John was a retired Fire Captain from Orange County Fire, where he served for 35 years. He enjoyed photography and had his own business. John played guitar with Bob Wells and the Texas Play Boys and had his own band in Orange, Calif. John was a member of the Masonic Lodge #64 and #293, Order of Eastern Star #61 and #163, Elks Lodge #2399, Moose Lodge, Eagles Aerie and the American Legion. John loved his kids and his grandkids, who will miss him deeply. John is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Sharon Sleppy of Lake Havasu City; daughter, Kelli Bogucki, of Costa Mesa, Calif.; sons, Walter (Pam) Sleppy, of Mesquite, Nev. and Michael Sleppy, of Big River, Calif.; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 26 at the Masonic Lodge in Lake Havasu City at 11:30 a.m. with the Masonic Lodge and the Fire Department officiating the service.
