Bonita “Bonnie” Duck, 81, of Scottsdale, Arizona originally of Flagstaff, Arizona, died January 15, 2013.
She was born Ruby Bonita, July 14, 1931 in Mineral Wells, Texas, the daughter of late Della Annie Crowell and William Columbus “Dub” Boarman. She was the eldest of 6 siblings, one whom predeceased her in childhood. Her beloved husband of 56 years,
John Charles Duck passed away August 19, 2011 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
She graduated from Tucumcari High School, attended Eastern New Mexico University, Northern Arizona University. She was employed by Northern Arizona University, Museum of Northern Arizona, United States Geological Survey in Flagstaff, Arizona. An active and passionate volunteer she worked diligently in the San Francisco Bay Chapter of The National League of POW/MIA Families, National Alliance on Mental Illness, Girl Scouts of America, and as an active member at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church in Flagstaff, Arizona. It was her gift of welcoming new people that she will be most remembered.
She is survived by her 5 siblings and her three daughters; Karen and son-in-law Patrick Flood, Alison and son-law Tim Smith, Mary and son-in-law Paul Pallon; grandchildren, Maggie Smith and husband Tyler Paluch, Caitlin and Sean Flood, Alicia Pallon and husband Matt, Maria and Christine Pallon. And one great-grandson Carter Heber.
A funeral is scheduled at 2:00pm, Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Messinger Indian School Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Rd., in Scottsdale.
