John William
John William Leger, Sr. was born to Philias and Leona Leger on September 2, 1917 in Taunton, Massachusetts. He entered into rest on March 13, 2004.
He leaves his cherished memories behind with his devoted wife Shirley Leger of Phoenix, his children John Leger, Jr. of Peoria, Cherylle J.A. Darnell of Avondale, his grandchildren Todd K. Odell of Avondale, Staci J.A. Darnell of Avondale, his sister Doris McGovern of Massachusetts, his brother Robert Leger of Massachusetts, and his great-grandchildren: Brandi Odell, Danielle Odell, Tamara Odell, T.J. Odell, and Madisyn Valverde.
John W. Leger, Sr. married Shirley Clark on December 7, 1941, while Pearl Harbor was being attacked.
John and his family moved to Arizona from Massachusetts in 1955. John retired from the City of Phoenix after 20 years of service. His hobbies included golfing, ham radio operating, listening and playing music, and NASCAR Races. He was known to many of family and friends as "Frenchy." Family and friends will miss his stories, his endearing smile, his laughter, and his feisty spirit.
