SEARS, Raymonde Marie

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Saturday, January 19, 2013 Raymonde Marie Sears died Dec. 22, 2012. She was born Jan. 30, 1921, to Albert and Bernadette Maranda in Quebec City, Canada. Mrs. Sears was an entertainer, having her own radio show in Quebec City as well as in Montreal. Mrs. Sears joined the CWAC-Canadian Women's Army Corps in 1941 during WWII, entertaining the Canadian troops in England, France and Italy through 1945. She worked as a public relations representative for Trans World Airlines in New York City for 10 years and traveled all over the world with them. She was a consultant for Coats & Clark Company in Dallas, Texas, for eight years. She also worked at the Republic National Bank in Dallas for four years. She then worked as a manager of the Calmar Hotel in Santa Monica for eight years. She retired in 1992 and treated herself to an Alaskan Cruise. She lived in Prescott off and on since 1979. She was a member of the Catholic Sacred Heart Church and member of The St. Cecilia Choir. She was a Eucharistic minister and a tutor at the Catholic school. She was also a member of Soroptimist International of Prescott. Raymonde enjoyed classical music, and had a season ticket for the symphony for years. She was a member of the Symphony Guild. She also belonged to the Claret Club with Sacred Heart Parish. Raymonde did a lot of reading. She worked with Counted Cross Stitching, showering her friends with her work. She knitted many sweaters for children in Bosnia. You would always see her doing a lot of volunteer work in the city. The one she most enjoyed was working at the Chamber of Commerce. She was preceded in death by her three husbands, Dan McCafferty, Bill Greenfield and Ben Sears. Mrs. Sears is survived by her nieces - Kerry Lynn McCarthy and her three children, Lauren, James and Kiera, and Linda Keyes and her daughter Dayna - and a nephew, Robert Pettersen, all from Canada. Mass of the Resurrection will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Sacred Heart Church, 150 Fleury St., Prescott, Ariz. Information provided by survivors.
