STOKES, JR., George Hill

Silver Creek Mortuary, Taylor, Arizona George Hill Stokes (October 20, 1946 - January 20, 2013) George Hill Stokes, Jr., 65, went to be with the Lord, with his loving wife Karen by his side, after a year-long battle with agent orange induced cancer, January 19, 2013. He was born October 20, 1946 to parents George stokes and Vera Slocumb Stokes in Americus, Georgia. George enjoyed fishing, rock hunting, and was an avid reader. He was a 1st responder/ volunteer firefighter in Worth County, Georgia. He was also an active member of the Albany/ Dougherty County rescue team. George was a sergeant in the United States Army, serving from October 22, 1963 thru January 6, 1967 as an Airborne Ranger. George is survived by his mother Vera Stokes of Bronwood, Georgia; wife Karen Stokes of Snowflake, Arizona; daughter Georgeanna Stokes of Miami, Florida; stepson Glenn Webb of Anniston, Alabama; sister Maryann Stokes; brother John Stokes of Bronwood, Georgia, and several Grandchildren. George is preceded in death by his father, George Hill Stokes, Sr. Private Services will be held at a later date.
