VIRGINIA (MAYFIELD) HERRING, 78, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013, in Hamlin.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2013, in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery, directed by Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home.
Born August 6, 1934, Virginia was the daughter of the late Vernon and Madeline (Russell) Mayfield. She graduated from Hamlin High School. Virginia married Richard Herring May 24, 1952, in Lawton, Oklahoma and moved to Hamlin in 1999. As a young woman, Virginia was an avid bowler; she was involved with the Little League Baseball Program, where she ran the concession stand and was the Team Mom. Virginia enjoyed gardening and quilting. She was a very special person and never complained, she always put everyone else’s needs first. Virginia was a loving Mother. She was a Methodist.
Virginia is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years (Richard Herring), and one son (Richard Herring, Jr.).
Virginia is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John and Sherry Herring of Cottonwood, Arizona; daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Michael McLaughlin of Flagstaff, Arizona; six grandchildren, Nicholas Cosper and his wife Jaana, Sandy Cosper, Keith Herring, Christy Herring, Madison McLaughlin and Taylor McLaughlin; two great-grandchildren, Blayden Cosper and Brock Cosper; and a very special friend, Tammy Miller.
