West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona, Friday, January 18, 2013 Velma Ann (nee Davis) Scheetz, 87, of Goodyear died Nov. 17, 2012, at Hospice of the Valley in Goodyear from Multiple Myeloma. Mrs. Scheetz was born Oct. 22, 1925, in Superior, Neb., to Ralph and Minnie Metzinger. She moved to Arizona in 1960, and was a housewife, nurse and St. Vincent de Paul Society president. She worked with her first husband, Glen B. Davis, in their Sun City photo shop until the age of 52, when she went back to school and became a nurse. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Scheetz; and one son, Edwin Davis. She is survived by three daughters, Linda Howard of Texas, Glenda Messmore of Florida and Susan Roussel of Buckeye; one son, Rodney Davis of Chino Valley; one sister, Jean Holifield of California; 10 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. Services were Jan. 9 at St. Vincent de Paul Society Chapel, and burial was Jan. 12 at Holy Cross Cemetery in Avondale. The Rev. Chuck Shaw officiated.
