MONTIERTH, Jerry Lenard

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 01/25/2013 Jerry Lenard Montierth, 82, made the journey to his Heavenly home Jan. 19, 2013, in Springerville. He was born June 21, 1930, in Safford to Robert Elliot and Lillie Elizebeth Montierth. Jerry was a lifelong resident of Arizona. He had a love of dirt and spent his life farming the land. He owned and operated Montierth Farms in San Simon for more than 50 years. He learned many things through the school of hard knocks. He worked circles around most and took pride in everything he did. He was a cowboy at heart and loved a good horse. He was a friend to everyone and had a heart of gold. He was an amazing husband and dad. He came along and swept Jody off her feet and spent his entire life dedicated to his family. He loved getting the whole gang together and always had them all in stitches with his jokes. He loved a great adventure and he and Jody shared many. They loved to travel the country in their motorhome, especially their trips to Alaska. They were avid hunters and fishermen and Jody loved to tease him that he was the cutest fisherman she had ever laid eyes on and was the catch of her life. They packed a lifetime into their cherished 21 years together. They recently retired to their home in Nutrioso. He is survived by his loving wife, Jody Montierth of Nutrioso; son Jerry Don (Jeri Lynn Houston) of Midland, Texas; daughter Jennie and (Kenny) Simpson of Paonia, Colo.; son Terry (Anna) Houston of Germany; six grandchildren: Bradly Miller, Misty Reynolds, Vanessa Phillips, Morgan Simpson, Layla Houston and Lilly Houston and one great-grandson Payson Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Elliot and Lillie Elizebeth Montierth; brother Marvin Montierth; and sister Vera Larson. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at Eagar LDS Stake Center, 120 N. Main in Eagar with Bryce Burnham will officiating. The world will be a little dimmer now that he is gone, but the light shining in Heaven will be ever so bright. “ I love you my special Huggie Bear!
