DEWITT, Melvin Kent


Silver Creek Mortuary, Taylor, Arizona Melvin Kent DeWitt (July 22, 1922 - January 23, 2013) Melvin Kent DeWitt, age 90, passed away January 23, 2013, at his home, in Snowflake, Arizona. Melvin was born in Snowflake, Arizona, to parent John Daniel and Caroline A. Webb DeWitt. Melvin was married to Wilna Lamoreaux Dewitt October 13, 1949 in the Mesa, Arizona L.D.S Temple. He lived in Arizona, Utah and Mexico. He spent most of his adult life teaching music in Snowflake. Melvin served 5 missions with his wife for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and 1 mission as a young man. Melvin is a World War II veteran. He served from June 12, 1943 to September 6, 1945 as a Staff Sergeant in the Army, 410th Bombardment 94th group. He is survived by Gayle (Edward) Whetten, Diane (Tom) Richardson, M. Douglas (Rebecca) Dewitt, Alan (Linda) DeWitt, Bradley (Brenda) DeWitt, Julie (Kenneth) Turner, 31 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, wife of 57 years, 1 grandson and 1 great-grandson. A funeral will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with a viewing at 9:30 A.M. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Snowflake Stake Center in Snowflake, Arizona. Interment will take place after the service at the Mike Ramsay Memorial Cemetery in Snowflake, Arizona.
