Norvel Owens Mortuary, Flagstaff, Arizona Kari Dawn Hall (August 11, 1978 - January 19, 2013) Kari Dawn Hall passed away peacefully after a short illness on January 19, 2013. She was born on August 11, 1978 in Casper, Wyoming. Kari spent her early years in Casper and moved to Phoenix with her family in 1990 where she attended public schools and Verde Valley High School in Sedona, AZ. Kari received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Northern Arizona University in 2004. Upon graduation, she spent two years as a nurse on the Navajo Nation at the Tuba City Regional Hospital. Kari loved and respected the Navajo and Hopi peoples tremendously. Many times she traveled to the area to assist with sheep herding or any project that was needed by the Navajo or Hopi grandmas. Kari spent the past seven years as a Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) in the Emergency Department at Flagstaff Medical Center (FMC). She truly loved her chosen profession and the people she worked with at FMC. From the very beginning, Kari was a seeker and a collector. She sought out truth and light; a passionate advocate for equality and justice for her gender, the forgotten and the invisible in our society. She was a seeker and dispenser of wisdom and knowledge to all those who knew her. She sought out and found the good in everyone. A lover of nature, Kari collected leaves, rocks, tadpoles or anything else she found interesting on the wild plains of Wyoming, the high desert and forests of Arizona and throughout her journeys far and wide. She also collected antiques, books, music and artifacts of days and eras gone by. Most importantly, Kari collected friends and love with a heart large enough to hold all the oceans. Kari’s legacy will be the tremendous impact that she had on the lives of those that knew her. She was a devoted mother; loving daughter, sister, aunt and partner; and steadfast friend. A committed nurse and community caregiver, staunch feminist and advocate for social justice; Kari forged and nurtured authentic and lasting relationships. She looked you in the eyes and understood what you were feeling, a gift for empathy that made her a genuine and remarkable woman. Her enormous strength, unwavering commitment to her beliefs, selflessness and service to others were inspiring and a shining example of how to live life with meaning and purpose. She wore steel toe boots to carry her angel heart. She will forever be in our hearts. Kari leaves behind her daughter, Aiyana Shalom; her parents, Sharon Shore and Charles Blatt; her father, Charles Hall; her grandma, Alice Elaine Blatt; brother and sister-in-law Mike and Lisa Shore, brothers, Brad and Cody Hall; niece Peyton Shore; nephew, Owen Shore; partner, Reuben Jolley and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
