West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona, Tuesday, January 29, 2013 Thomas J. Wallace, 89, of Sun City and formerly of Avondale died Jan. 5, 2013, in Sun City. Mr. Wallace was born Sept. 30, 1923, in Long Beach, Calif. He was a first lieutenant World War II bomber pilot in the Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945. He then chose a career in radio and television broadcasting and engineering. He managed radio stations in Tucson, Lompoc, Calif., and Indianapolis. He then retired to Sun City. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Sun City. He is survived by his wife, Esther J. Wallace; eight daughters, Susan Barrett, Kathleen Dalton, Barbara Rodeman, Mariam Kilgore, Amanda Brady, Rose Robinson, Debra Lewin and Shelley Springs; five sons, Thomas Wallace, Ed Poteat, William Lewin, Gregory Lewin and Kevin Lewin; one sister, Midge Finley; 30 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Sun City, 11019 W. Peoria Ave. in Sun City. The Rev. Kenneth Dalton will officiate.
