Robert Richardson
(Died January 20, 2013)
Robert Richardson, 61, passed away on January 20, 2013 at the Olivia White Hospice Home in Flagstaff, Arizona.
He was born in Pennsylvania and lived in Phoenix with his family before moving to the Bay Area in California in 1968.
Being a child of the 60’s, Rob went to more rock and roll concerts in San Francisco than anyone can remember, including himself.
Rob spent time in Ohio, where he worked for US Steel and traveled up and down the Ohio River on ore barges. In Ohio he built the first of four geodesic domes.
Rob moved to Parks, Arizona in 1981 and built his second dome home from the ground up. He always considered Parks to be his true home.
He was a great storyteller and humorist. He was also an avid outdoorsman and backpacked the Grand Canyon many times. He rafted many rivers in the southwest, including the entire length of the Grand Canyon on a private trip.
Rob earned his bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University and bought a second home in Winslow. Mr. Richardson taught at Winslow High and Northern Arizona Academy. Later on he taught at Northland Pioneer College, commuting to Chinle, Second Mesa, Greasewood, and other locations.
Rob is survived by his father Homer Richardson and stepmother Janice, brothers Tom and Jon, sister Lorelei, and six nieces and nephews.
A brick in his name will be placed by his good friend Mac “on the corner” in Winslow Arizona – Rob Richardson ~ Still playing music ~ he will be missed.
