LANFORD, Michael James

West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona, Friday, February 01, 2013 Michael James Lanford, 60, of Buckeye died Jan. 23, 2013. Mr. Lanford was born in 1952 in Phoenix to Margery and Raymond "Beans" Lanford. He grew up in the farming industry helping his father and brothers run the family farm. He later broke into ranching and finally ended his career repairing and maintaining heavy machinery. He worked cattle, irrigated crops and drove and maintained farm equipment. He graduated from Buckeye Union School and attended Glendale Community College and Arizona State University. He married Melanie Ann Aja in 1975 and they began their life together in Palo Verde. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Melanie; one daughter, Gigette Dillow; one son, Raymond "R.B." Basilio; and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Henry's Catholic Church, 128 S. Third St. in Buckeye.
