Jean Alexina Hejna, 85, passed away April 10, 2004.
She was born December 22, 1918 in Chicago, Illinois to Thomas Pattison Coates and Syrie (Ericzone) Coates.
On October 3, 1941, she was married to Edward Karol Hejna in Los Angeles, California.
Mrs. Hejna was a woman of many, many talents including sewing, music, painting, and many creative handicrafts. There was never a challenge that she would refuse and the results of her many creative talents were admired by all those who knew her. She was a Christian and a member of the Lakeview Methodist Church of Sun City.
She was one of the founders and a member of the musical trio, "The Entertainers", from 1977-1985, specializing in 1920's music, which included Helen Shaw and Dorothy Kelley. The trio traveled all over Arizona and brightened many people's afternoons and evenings with their nostalgic performances.
Mrs. Hejna and her husband resided in Sun City since 1973. Mr. Hejna passed away on August 31, 2003. Surviving family members include two daughters, Jennifer S. Bailey of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and husband Dan Bailey, and grandson, David Bailey and wife Leilani Bailey, and Sharyn E. Jones of Ava, Missouri, and husband Mark L. Jones, and two grandsons, Seth Jones and Ian Jones. She was predeceased by her parents and one sister, Margaret S. Coates of San Diego, California.
Mrs. Hejna will be interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.
