Wilma Jean Newman passed away Jan. 30, in Lake Havasu City at the age of 88. Wilma was born in Fort Branch, Ind., July 16, 1924, to Otto and Jewell (Jefferies) Burke.
Wilma worked as a hairdresser in Indiana before moving to Tucson in 1974 to continue working as a hairdresser. She then moved to Yuma, then Kingman before settling in Lake Havasu City in July 1991. Wilma was an active and beloved member of Havasu Christian Church. She was also a frequent visitor of the local Taco Bell.
Wilma is survived by her son, Francis Newman and his wife, of Hazelton, Ind., and their children; as well as her extended church family.
Visitation and viewing for Wilma will be Sunday, at noon at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 1:30 p.m. Pastor John Walton and Pastor Claude Bulger will offer words of comfort and inspiration. Burial will follow at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens.
