Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Wednesday, January 30, 2013 - Donald R. Elrod, 84, passed away Jan. 8, 2013 in Lake Havasu City. He was born April 10, 1928, in Middletown, Ind., to John and Lillian Elrod. Don attended and graduated from Middletown, Ind., in 1947. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1948, and served his country for almost four years. Upon his discharge form the Army, he returned to his job with General Motors and attended Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., majoring in Business Administration. Don was a 50-year member of Ovid Masonic Lodge, the Elks Lodge, American Legion, Order of Eastern Star and Mount Olive Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing cards and an occasional visit to Laughlin. Don is survived by his loving wife, Millie Elrod, of Lake Havasu City; son, Gary (Adeliada) Elrod; daughters, Janice (Richard) Perez and Debbie Elrod; sister-in-law, Margaret (Jim) Scroggings; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and 13 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and both brothers. A Memorial service will take place at Mount Olive Lutheran Church Saturday, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jim Price offering words of comfort. Memorials can be made in Don's name to Hospice of Havasu or the Polodori House at 1970 Bahama Lane, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403.
