Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Wednesday, January 30, 2013 >> Helen Vermath Rogers << >> Jan. 22, 2013 << Helen, at 105 years old, passed away Jan. 22, in her apartment at The Jasmine House, an assisted living complex in Lake Havasu City, with her daughter and grandson by her side. Helen was born in Seattle, Wash., to Mace Gay Davis and Helen Louise Wren. Helen lived at the Jasmine House for the last five years of her life. Helen has lived in Lake Havasu City for 40 years. Before moving to Lake Havasu City, she and her husband Lloyd of 57 years lived, worked and retired at the Naval Weapons Center, China Lake, Calif. Helen retired in 1969, and Lloyd retired in 1972. They moved to Lake Havasu City in 1973 and bought a home here. Helen met her husband in high school in Norwood, Colo., where they both graduated. They were married in 1928 and lived in Denver, Colo., for two years. They moved back to Norwood and lived there until 1941, when they moved to Bishop, Calif. Lloyd worked for the Vanadium for four years. From Bishop they moved to China Lake, Calif., in 1945. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, M.G. and Louise Davis; brother, Mace (Faye) Davis; two sisters, Elizabeth (Harold) Joseph and Kathryn (Hugh) Hardman; son in-law, Don Daus; and two grandchildren, Daniel Rogers and Cynthia Marken. Helen is survived by her sons, Dick (Mary) Rogers, David (Barbara) Rogers; daughter, Jeri Daus; grandchildren, Laura (Pat) Moriarty, Mike Daus, Shana Rogers; three great-grandchildren, Samantha Cox, Robert and Cristina Rogers and four great great grandchildren, Cody and Savanna Brooks and Celeste and Stephen Rogers.
