The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Wednesday, February 06, 2013 Jack Garth Hays, 85, of Prescott, Ariz., born Sept. 3, 1927, in Dinuba, Calif., passed away Feb. 3, 2013. Services will be 1 p.m. Feb. 16, 2013, at Prescott United Methodist Church, 505 W. Gurley St., Prescott, Ariz. Arrangements by Heritage Memory Mortuary. ~~~~~~~~ The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Friday, February 08, 2013 Jack, born in Dinuba, Calif., grew up in Bakersfield, Calif., where he met his wife Jean (Mary Jean Wilkinson) and married her in 1951. Together they raised five children, Linda, Karen, Kathleen, Nancy and Mark. Jack served in the U.S. Navy, graduated Bakersfield College and UC Berkeley. He worked for I. Magnin & Co., transferred to Seattle, Wash., and began his career with Mutual of New York. He transferred to Northridge, Calif., in 1964, where he was regional manager for 33 years. After retiring from MONY, he became an auctioneer and was a member of the CMSA. Jack was active in Rotary International serving as club president, district governor and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was also active in Campfire Girls where he received national awards. Jack and Jean moved to Prescott, Ariz., in 2004. He enjoyed being Santa, fishing, woodworking, camping, beekeeping, his Model T, trains and was a Master Gardener, but his family was the most important thing in his life. Jack was an exceptional husband, father and grandfather. Besides Jean, his five children and their spouses, he leaves 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Prescott United Methodist Church, 505 W. Gurley St. Prescott, Ariz. Morris Center, 878 Sunset Ave., Prescott, AZ 86305 or the Alzheimer's Foundation of America to pay tribute to his courage in battling this disease.
