Cordelia E. Black was born Feb. 14, 1921, to Annie and Garland Jones in Shelby, Miss.
At age 3, she moved with her parents and sister to Chicago. She married A.L. Black in 1952, and after the birth of her son A.L. (Skip) Black Jr., moved to Prescott in 1955. She worked at the VA medical center in Prescott in dietetics as a food supervisor for 26 years and retired in 1983. She enjoyed her family, bingo and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up.
She is survived by her son A.L Skip Black Jr.; daughter-in-law Mary Jane Black; grandchildren, Janae (Trey) Furr, Matt (Jenny) Black, Kelsi (Glen) Hicks; great grandchildren, Jaelyn Furr, 7, Jade Furr, 4, Jaren Furr, 1, Dnte Black, 7 months, Deegan Hicks, 2; niece Diane (Herb) Jackson and family; nephew Dean (Ann) Lillard and family; as well as many extended family and bingo friends.
There are no words to describe the amazing person who molded our lives and made each and everyone of us better people. Unless you had the chance of knowing this wonderful woman, you wouldn't be able to understand the amount of love, generosity and care that she instilled in all of us. She was the best mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend anyone could ask for.
May you rest in peace and know you will be in our hearts and thoughts forever.
Services will be at noon on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013.
