Glenn Henry Ray, age 77 of Globe, Ariz. passed away on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 at Phoenix St. Luke’s Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa on Aug. 2, 1935 the son of Albert and Edna (Sparks) Ray.
He lived in Utah before moving to the Phoenix area. He came to Globe around 1955. Glenn served his country proudly in the U.S. Marines and spent eight years stationed in Hawaii. He married Patricia Scott in 1958 in Las Vegas. They returned to Globe and worked in construction for several years before going to work in the Magma and B.H.P. mines in Superior and San Manuel. After 18 years he retired in 1998. Glenn enjoyed woodworking and golfing.
He loved watching John Wayne movies and collected J.W. memorabilia.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jason Ray.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Patricia Ray; his children, Merle Ray (Anita) of Globe, Toni Rakes (Ron) of Safford, Ariz., Lynette Bravance (Andy) of Globe, and Melonie Alvarez (Freddy) of Tucson, Ariz.; his sister, Doris Nobley; 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial Services were held Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Lamont Mortuary Chapel in Globe, Ariz.
