BRICKEY, Newlton Lloyd (Jim)


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 02/15/2013 Newlton Lloyd Brickey, “Jim”, 78, went to be with the Lord, his wife Rose and other family, Feb. 10, 2013. He was born March 4, 1934, to Hubert and Nora Brickey in Nocona, Texas. He grew up at “The Station” outside Lordsburg, N.M. He graduated from Lordsburg High School, and then attended college in Silver City, N.M. He then served in the U.S. Army Reserve for two years, where he received two expert medals in rifle and carbine. In 1961 he began work with Southwest Forest Industries, “Papermill,” where he worked until he retired. He met and married his first wife Doreen Garvin and they were blessed with three daughters and two sons, before finally divorcing. As life has it, a few years later he met his soul-mate Rose Spires and they were married in 1976, in Snowflake. She brought with her two sons and four daughters and a lifetime of happiness. They were married for 35 years before Rose passed away in 2011. Also preceding him in death were, his parents, all his siblings, one daughter and two sons. He is survived by two sons, six daughters and multiple grand and great-grandchildren. Services were held Feb. 13, at “The Ranch.” He was interred at the Spires Family Cemetery.
