Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Thursday, February 14, 2013 - John Edward Morris passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2013 in Lake Havasu City at the age of 88. John was born Aug. 26, 1924 in Nyack, N.Y. to Thomas and Sarah (Kreiger) Morris. Following graduation from high school, John entered the United States Army in June of 1943, proudly serving his country as a member of the 115th infantry 29th division during World War II until January of 1946. He was honorably discharged holding the rank of Sergeant. Following his military service, John met the woman of his dreams, Nova Belisle and the two were married on Aug. 25, 1946, one day before his birthday. John retired as an owner of a lawn and garden equipment store. John enjoyed gardening, fishing and boating and while they lived in California he was a llama rancher. He also loved playing cards with his friends in Lake Havasu City on Friday nights and taking occasional trips to the casinos in Laughlin and Parker. John is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Nova Morris; daughter, Cathy Ochs, of San Clemente, Calif.; son, John Morris, of Agua Dulce, Calif.; grandchildren, Duane, Janell, Amie and Harlan; and sister-in-law, Joan Leewald, of Lake Havasu City and one great-grandchild on the way. A private gathering of family and friends will take place at a later date. John will be loved and missed by all forever.
